We've a few days of snow this week. We're supposed to get 18 inches tonight. Here are some pictures of Sadie's day in the snow today:

Catching up with Sadie
Sadie has had a very busy year up here in Cold Spring (sorry for the nearly 12 month lapse in posts). Here's some details to catch you up; she goes to school 2 days a week, takes ballet and music classes and has been growing up faster than we can believe. She still dresses up in princess gear a few times a week. If she's not in princess gear she at least is wearing a tiara and she always wears a dress. Sadie is incredibly coordinated and is a super fast runner - even in glitter shoes or flip flops. She has long running narratives with her toys done mostly in song.
Sadie is adapting to country life, she isn't really afraid of bugs anymore, at least not the little ones. She loves to throw rocks into the Hudson and is fine on hikes. She isn't phased by deer hanging out in the back yard or the hawks flying above.
Sadie stays up until about 9:30-10 most nights. We start the bedtime routine about 8 but she manages to stretch it out for another 2 hours. But despite her refusal to go to bed at a decent hour she is a very happy, even keeled kid who has few melt downs. She loves candy canes.
Sadie talks about how her life will be at a variety of ages as in; "When I'm 30 I'm going to marry a prince." At least she's going to wait until 30 and she could do a lot worse than a prince. Lately she's been telling me, "Daddy I love you no matter what you look like". This weekend she told us Elmo had an adopted baby in his belly. That is something I would truly like to see.

Checking in
It's been a long time since we posted to this blog last and in that time a lot has happened A new town, new house, a car, a lawn - all good things. And through all the changes Sadie has been a trooper. She's adjusted much quicker to her new house, town and lifestyle than we have. She's super happy and healthy. She's still an urbanite at heart (thankfully) and refuses to walk on grass barefoot and has a serious aversion to bugs. I can respect that. These pictures are from July 4th at our friend's apartment in the city.
We'll try to post more often than every 6 months now that things are calming down a bit.

Below are the other two photos China gave us when we got our referral. I might have already posted them but here they are again.
Today Sadie and I were playing a game we sometimes play where I shake her hand formally and say "Hello, nice to meet you." and she will screech back, "nice to meech you!" and fall apart laughing. Today when I shook her hand and said "Hello, nice to meet you." she replied "Nice to meech you. Sadie from China."

Still catching up on 07
I noticed we only made 13 posts in 2007 but 46 in 2006 so I'm trying to catch up by posting some 07 pictures I never got around to putting on the blog. I hope I'm reading the stats wrong because averaging a little more than one post per month is pretty lame. See the following few posts for images from late Fall 2007.
I don't know why but this is one of my favorite pictures of Sadie and Jackie from that period. It is so quintessentially Sadie; smiling her raised eyebrows smile as she plays with two of her favorite things, knives and food. Seconds after this picture was snapped the bagel chunks were violently mashed together then hurled across the room in a fit of hysterical rage that had absolutely no discernable trigger outside of Sadie's 2 year old mind.
